Extending length of pull without recoil pad

I'm 6'4'' and got long arms and the magpul MOE stock on my LR-308 felt wayyy to short for me. I like the telescoping stock, but all the way extended it just didn't sit right. I know magpul makes some 3/4'' butt pads but that would still only be about 1/2'' thicker than the factory pad.

This whole length of pull deal frustrated the living hell out of me. Ended up making a spacer out of 1'' composite decking material and sandwiched it between the but pad and the end of the stock. feels great and keeps good shot to shot consistency. Anyone else done a hackjob like this?

I did something similar on an old 12 gauge, using home made plastic inserts, to accommodate an off the shelf pad, on a synthetic stock.
Where there's a will, there's a way.
