An example of the pro-gun mentality, or, "Aim high, Lead By Example, And Hope."
This is only gun-related by vitue of having to take resonsibilty when applying deadly force. A proper mentality is absolutely neccessary.
And it's a nice counter to Liberalism in general, so I thought I might as well tell you folks, as you might actually appreciate it.
In the realm of Personal Responsibility.
The first time I heard this it was told to me by someone twice my age, just
lately. As soon as I had heard it, I demanded to know who wrote it, which
surprised the man who told it to me. Apparently no-one had bothered to ask
THAT question before, even though he had told it to lots of different folks
over the years.
I found that it lined up very closely with the philosophy I had consciously
chosen to live by. And it was written 60+ years ago!

The Guy in the Glass
When you get what you want in your struggle for pelf*,
And the world makes you King for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that guy has to say.
For it isn't your Father, or Mother, or Wife,
Who judgement upon you must pass.
The feller whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the guy staring back from the glass.
He's the feller to please, never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end,
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test
If the guy in the glass is your friend.
You may be like Jack Horner and "chisel" a plum,
And think you're a wonderful guy,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum
If you can't look him straight in the eye.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on the back as you pass,
But your final reward will be heartaches and tears
If you've cheated the guy in the glass.

I try not to TELL people what to do; that just pisses them off.
Instead I set High Personal Standards.
Then it's just "Aim High, Lead By Example, And Hope."
This is my personal outlook on Humanity.
Hope is cheap. I sell a lot of it. Wholesale.
The worst I get is disappointed. I can deal with that.
