Dust in the chamber? Or do you mean dust/dirt in the bore? Dust really is not going to get in the chamber of a rifle with a round chambered while hunting. If you're concerned about dust/dirt particles in the bore, pop a kiddy balloon over the muzzle or use a piece of tape. Just shoot right thru the balloon or tape when the occassion arises. I'd have to be in an awfully windy-dusty-sandy area before I'd be concerned enough to worry about it though.

No, but thanks for your reply, it is really appreciated GG - actually the dust/fine grit had fallen down a very clean bore into the chamber area and probably stuck on oil residue and the sides, as the new brass PMC reloaded round is briefly extracted each reloading of the 12GA barrel(8 shots of 1-1/4 OZ #5BR for x6 crows that AM !!)when the CZ-combo under barrrel was scraped briefly on the dusty wall. The bore was checked for obstructions (of course), but dust in the chamber/throat area was missed and there was enough clearance for the round to chamber OK....though now you mention it, it was "stickier" than usual, but that is often due to unburned magnum powder in cold conditions in the tight S/S action, especially if unloaded on an angle.. EG under a camo net.[But as you can imagine action was hectic with angry crows flying 10m above me on the lookout for the "bounder" who ruffled a few of their their buddy's feathers!]

Would the balloon(in the ever-popular kahaki colour of course!)or ditto tape over the muzzle upset the POI ? I only usually shoot 45m to 120m with this .223 rifle, as sights are a tip-off shotgun type 32x2.5 magnification only, so it may not significantly.

All the best GG,thanks again for your FL reply... safe hunting -BB.
