...to the Camp Mabry military museum in Austin several years ago. I used to play "army" with it as a kid in St.Louis during the 1950s - Dad brought it back from France in 1945. It looked like this one minus the carry handle on top of the barrel:

Different times now. So far, i've never seen a kid playing army with his buddies with their squirt/bb guns and he's wielding a fully automatic B.A.R.! Hah! :D bet you were the coolest one of em all :D

Actually, I supplied them with two Mauser 98Ks and a Nambu pistol....along with 2 German helmets, 1 WWI "doughboy" helmet, two Japanese hand grenades, web belts, packs etc.

I was the neighborhood armorer. :D

Gave the grenades to my neighbor several years ago. He's an explosives expert with the BATFE.
Had one of the Mausers sporterized into a sweet .30-06 about 20 years ago.

It took me many tries to find a photo of this particular BAR model since I didn't remember who manufactured them in Europe.

Not being very computer savvy early on didn't help with my search.
