Difficulty in arming Browning Buckmark

I've owned my Buckmark for many years and have enjoyed this 22 cal target pistol. But recently I have had a real problem arming this gun; it is incredibly hard to put back the receiver to cock the hammer. On several occasions I have taken the gun apart, made sure it is clean and oiled, and then have no problem with it the first time I go to pull back the receiver, only to have it immediately become almost impossible to do again. Any ideas on what may be happening?

When you disassembled did you check the condition of the buffer? It is a small plastic piece that hwill deteriorate or crack over time.

I did check the buffer. This small rubber piece was in undamaged shape and properly seated. Thanks for the suggestion.

The recoil spring must be binding on something, sorry beyond that I don't have a clue.

I am sure someone will come along with the right answer. Good luck.

Make sure you aren't over tightening the sight base screws. This will bind the slide up.Back them off a hair and I bet it be smooth as butter.
