My wife and I handled a Desert Eagle 1911c .45 acp recently and are considering buying it. They were asking about $600.00 new. Any thoughts on this gun?

I can't say that I have any experience shooting one, but I did look at buying one a few years ago when I was looking for a budget 1911. I could swear that the prices were quite a bit lower then though. I'm thinking they were closer to $450 then. At $600 I personally would be looking more at a mil-spec Springfield 1911.

I have the fullsize DE 1911. I bought it because of the great slide to frame fit, and the trigger. It's a great shooter. It's very accurate, and I've had zero malfunctions. The only thing I would recommend is ditch the factory mags, and Wilsons. If you want to change sights you'll have to use sights that fit Kimber sight cuts. I have Dan Wessons as well, and the DE shoots as well as they do.
