I low mounted one on a slide a while back for a gentleman in CA.
I'm don't recall the exact width but they are wider then the slide.
I have Doctor sight in the shop now to low mount and they measure one inch in width. Depending on slide manufacture the slides will measure 0.910 to 0.940 inch.
