Decoding S&W 'features' codes

Does anyone know a site or resource for decoding the 'features' on the sides of S&W boxes that come with the revolvers.

As an example: 06-A2-MD-GR-BF-SW-SR-FS-CS-ZS

on the side of the box of my new 686.

Some of them I can figure out: SB=square butt, RB=round butt, RR=red ramp, but some are a total mystery. I have the Supica and Nihas Standard Catalog for S&W but can't find the decoder ring in there either.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't no of an online source, but all the abbreviations Rick & I could find are in Standard Catalog of S&W.

Look in the material in the very beginning of the chapters on Modern (Numbered Model) Revolvers and Auto-Pistols.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Jim

I've pored over the models and their differences in that book, but I admit that I haven't read every page. I'll try the place you recommend next.

P.S. That book is fantastic - Ive been reading it at night. It is required reading for all revolver lovers.
