Can someone tell me when my grandfather's Colt Woodsman Match Target was made?

Serial is MT123xx

1st Series Match Target

The Woodsman 1st Series Match Target was manufactured from 1938 to 1944. The 2nd and 3rd Series had an "S" suffix at the end of the serial number.

Sounds like a great family heirloom!!!

Indeed. Thanks for the info, it's one of my favorites along with the pre-27 N-frame S&W .357 he left me. Awesome guns, he had great taste.
