DAO (by accident) Revolvers

I was doing a "trigger job" on my newly acquired Model 14-1 (circa 1959 - pics will be forthcoming) and it struck me that some revolvers advertised as DA only might have been the victims of overzealous and uninformed amateur gunsmiths who accidentally rounded or removed the SA notch from the hammer thinking it was a burr.

Any idea how often this happens? There's certainly nothing wrong with a DAO revolver, and if I made that mistake I might be tempted to use/sell it that way rather than cough up the $$ for a new hammer. I might even bob the hammer to make it a "custom job".

I've never heard of this happening, though it is entirely possible. Most are from a police agency, security company, etc. who wanted DAO for liability reasons.
