Kevin McClung and Steve Morrison over at M.D. Labs are building some pretty cool custom 1911's and Hi-Powers. I wrote a short piece on them on my site(http://www.defensereview.com) and provided the links at the bottom of the story so you can look at the guns. They look really good actually.
Kevin's primarily known for his "Mad Dog" line of knives, but apparently he's a pretty serious gunsmith as well. What surprised me was that he actually did the welding work himself on the extended beavertail for the Hi-Power in the pictures. An extended beavertail is probably the single biggest pain in the butt custom add-on for a Hi-Power, and the most difficult thing to do to perfection. Anyway, you might want to check 'em out.
