CQC-7

Some years back I wanted an Emerson CQC-7 but as they were quite expensive I bought, and have been very happy with, a Benchmade of similar design. Reading some recent posts I saw that many others also liked the knife so I trotted off to the local gun/knife show to see some of the stuff ya'll were talking about and maybe find the larger version (I've got the smaller one, about3.25" blade and 8.00" overall). Well, the knife dealers said Benchmade no longer made that style but one fellow had the real thing for $100! Fill me in. I'm thrilled to have this Emerson, but why so cheap? Was the original CQC-7 8.0" or more like the larger model that Benchmade offered? This one has a serrated area at the back of the blade, the dealer said he thought the original had no serrations? Thanks for any help.

You payed about the right price for one if it was used, and still like new. Retail is about 130 bucks for NIB.
Benchmade was making the CQC for some time, and they had a difference of opinion with E.Emerson and that knife was dropped from Benchmades line. Emerson is making them now... He charges a little more for them for some reason. But sounds like you got a good deal on it.

One thing - the knife should have a chisle grind - if you have a grind on both sides of the blade, then you have a knock off copy, valued at about 15 bucks.

Benchmade made the mass-produced version of Emerson's CQC-7. The factory version went for ~$80-130, as compared to ~$400-700 for one made by Ernest's own hands.

Eventually Emerson created his own mass-production facility and terminated the production licenses with other companies, hence the end of Benchmade's CQC line.

400 TO WHAT?

Its a good knife - but NOT THAT GOOD!

Unbelievable that some one would pay THAT MUCH for an ugly little knife.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
