could a sig 232 handle the 9x18?

I ask because with the plethora of small .380's out there, I look at my perfectly reliable and beatifully made 232 and think, "you are over engineered". I can't help but think it could handle a hotter cartridge from the mass difference alone from say a Seecamp .380. Would the hotter chambering interest anyone? Could it handle 9mm even? Also, are Makarovs fixed barrel blow backs? Just a thought but the 232 is getting funny looks from me as I swing the safe door open now...

Yes. The Sig P230 was in fact chambered for the 9mmx18mm Ultra round, very similar to but not the exact same as the Mak round. It was also chambered in the .32acp round and the mythical grail rumored to exist...the .22lr P230.
