Commercial Mausers in military stocks.

If you inlet for the bolt handle, would a commercial mauser action fit into a k98 military stock? Was just curious for a possible project idea.

Depends on the action.
Some are still "K98" length. Some are '06 length. Some are 'magnum' length. There have been a few of notably shorter length.

The commonly available Dumoulin actions are '06 length.
Some inletting would need to be done for the magazine length and probably the receiver ring, but screw spacing is the same as a 98. The bolt handle should fall in about the same place, as well.

*I've been trying to source another stock for my Dumoulin recently. Lots of comparisons and measurements have been done.

The DuMoulins are technically the same dimensions of an FN M98, but they tend to be a little "fatter" than most commercial 98s. A stock inletted for an FN or Mark X will not fit on a DuMoulin without a little relieving of the wood.
