My old Gold Cup's front sight came loose, again. Having never been a big fan of the staked target blade, I called Colt and asked about updating my pistol with a new dovetailed blade. Their estimate seemed reasonable, so I sent them the side. It was returned with the job impeccably executed.

Both fee and time were less than their original estimate.

You're in good company: When I was working in Miami in the 1980's a couple of Tonton Macoutes brought in Jean-Claude Duvalier's Gold Cup with the same problem.

I just staked the dog snot out of it, then used a very low temp solder for a little extra security. He was deposed not too long after, and I don't know if the French government let him keep his gun or not when he went into exile.

BTW, I scratched my initials inside the slide in case it ever becomes a bigtime historical artifact.
