Colt 1911 front sight...

Love my 1911 Government XSE. Accurate, beautiful and tight. One problem... the front sight. The white dot fell out on the first shot at the range a few months ago. Replaced it (friend had one)... fell out again. Painted it in with Bright Sights... looked GREAT... fell out today. Problem is - once it falls out at the range, accuracy goes to hell (black sight on black bullseye). You get the picture.

Question: Anything else I could do/try before changing the front sight? Can I buy those little white plastic dots?

The white dot isn't plastic, it's PAINT.

To replace, first degrease the hole, then apply new white with an artist's brush or a toothpick.

For the filler, you can use model airplane paint, white appliance touch-up paint, Rustolium paint or most any hobby paint.

Let dry thoroughly, then apply a bit of lube.

If you degrease first, and let dry completely, they stay put.
