Choate Tactical Short Action stock review (Savage)

Installed the new Savage Tactical stock today ( http://www.combatstocks.com/Choate_TACTICAL_Stock_for_Savage_Short_ActionCenterfeed_Only.cfm ). Was a drop in fit in every sense. The stock aligned with the barrel lug very well, barrel sat very straight in the channel and the stock didn't require any sanding/etc to allow the accutrigger and box magazine to sit properly. I like the fact this stock uses the factory trigger guard (versus the guard being part of the stock as in the Choate Ultimate Varmint rifles). Relatively heavy so it's really not a stock for a field gun but great for bench rifles such as this one.

The Bell and Carlson are lighter and more expensive... if this rifle was going to be lugged around in the field I'd probably go that route. I have no complaints about this new Choate stock.

(At the time I wrote this the website combatstocks.com is down..)

Looks great! I went with a Laminated version which wasn't my first choice but it turned out looking pretty good.
