Casting slag in RCBS powder measure

I've been loading on my RCBS Rockchucker kit for about 4 years now. Every once in awhile I get inconsistent throw charges. I have never really thought to disassemble the entire manual powder measure. I have in the past looked down the reservoir and removed the drop tube for obstructions. This has always came up negative for problems. However I get a hair up my ass and decide to disassemble the entire unit. What do I find? CASTING SLAG in my thrower just above the drop tube and below the cylinder. I couldn't believe the amount I scraped out of there.

I hope this helps to even out my weight charges.

RCBS has outstanding customer service, and even if it's not new, I'm pretty sure they'll get you a free replacement if your slag removal left unacceptable pits. That's a new one on me, though.
