What does every body shoot for Cowboy? I use a blue Vaquero, a SS Vaquero, a blue Bisley Vaquero, all .44 mag. and all 5 1/2". I shoot .44 specials, 205 gr. swc with 4.0 grains of Clays. My rifle is a Marlin Cowboy in .45 colt, 255 lead rnfp, 5.0 gr. Clays. My shotgun is a Stoeger Coachgun in 20 gauge. Yea, I know, but when I started it was the only double I could find, and now I kinda like it. I had a Marlin 1895 for long range, but sold it and am looking for something else now. I had better luck with my Marlin 336TS .30-30 than the .45-70 anyways.

Howdy,

I use a pair of Uberti 1875 Remingtons, one with a 5.5 inch barrel and one with a 7.5 inch barrel. I use 200 gr. bullets with 5.8 gr. of Titegroup. Both pistols are .45 Colt. My Rifle is a Marlin Cowboy, also in .45 Colt. I use 250 gr bullets with 6.0 gr. of Titegroup for the Marlin. I have a Stoeger 12 gauge coach gun that I shoot Winchester Featherlites with. I've just ordered a Pedersoli Sharps to replace my W&H Buffalo Classic for long range shoots.

I've got a pair of 7 1/2" Vaqueros with stag grips and a Marlin 1894, all in 44 mag. Reload with light loads. Remington Rolling Block with an old Numrich Arms heavy octagonal barrel kit in 45/70 and a Stoeger Coachgun and an old Acme Arms (yes really is Acme, has Belgian proof marks) SxS mule ear double in 12 ga. Also have a Colt Lightening that I'd like to get up and running again for side matches.

I have a pair of 5 1/2" Vaqueros with the imitation Ivory grips ( Ivory not pearl. Only a pimp would have pearl grips on his pistol) and a Rossi Model 92, all in 44 Mag. I shoot 6.5 of Unique with 200 lrnfp in all. Shotgun is a Stevens 311 in 12 Ga. I also shoot cap & ball revolvers when I feel like cleaning guns a lot.

Source of that quote is George Patton, when asked about his guns by a reporter who mistakenly called them pearl handled. From what I have read, there were quite a few gunmen who preferred pearl, probably because it was flashy. I have to check which ones, but I believe it was an article by Sheriff Jim Wilson.

After I posted that I hoped there weren't any Cowboy pimps out there that would get their feelings hurt :)

I shoot both .44-40 & .45 Colt. 7 1/2 Cimmaron and 4 3/4 Colt in .44-40 and a 7 1/2 and 5 1/2 Colt in the .45. Rifle is a Rossi in .44-40. Scatter gun I use a Remi 1900 SxS 30 in F&F, & sometimes a M-97 Riot gun.

For long range I have a M-94 in .38-55, but my favorite is a 68 TD in .50-70. Also have some long bbl and carbine .45-70. With a name like mine I gotta shoot and love the TD's :).

For those of you who don't know, Wyatt & Josie are buried in Colma, CA. The cemetery used to be called Hills of Eternity but they've changed their name. South of San Francisco and north of San Jose, Colma is one of those graveyard towns with more dead folks than live.
