carburizing nitriding processes and old blued guns

Is it feasible to have this done on an old gun? Or is there so much prep involved that it isn't worth the time?

I had a MKII Ruger long ago, but my skin chemistry stripped the bluing from the lower quickly.

If I stripped an old MKII Ruger of its small parts and sights wood I end up with an ultra corrosion resistant MKII?

There is no more prep required than any other gun refinish.
In theory, it could be done with no prep, but all the flaws would be visible.

This gives me hope that so long as I am not wedded to a mirror like finish, I should be able to use something with lots of exterior character.
