Can't turn the elevation screw?

I just bought a Kimber .22lr conversion kit for my 1911 and cannot turn the elevation adjustment screw at all. I can turn the windage one just fine. There is nothing at all mentioned about it in the instructions.

Any ideas??

If that's a new kit, then maybe the screw was cross-threaded during installation. If it's used, then maybe there's some rust in the threads and a little Kroil would help. Have you tried turning the screw both ways? If you can't get the screw to move, then I guess sending the slide back to Kimber would be in order.

Does it have an allen/hex set screw in the right side like the adjustable sights on my Gold Match? You have to loosen it before adjusting the elevation.

Man, I've heard of people ruining their rears by not loosening those hex heads first. That's scary.

Luckily mine just needed some Liquid Wrench and some liquid courage. :)
