I havent handled one of them, and from photos, I cant tell if the hammer is big enough to thumb cock, or not? Is this a traditional DA/SA design, or DAO
i think as long as its a da/sa desighn it can be but if its dao it cant you can tell on the sig if it has a decocking lever its da/sa if it doesnt have the lever its dao i was looking at a 239 and 229 yesterday at the gun shop nice feeling guns may have to get one some day
Compared to HK USP Compacts, the Sig P239's hammer is easier to manual cock. It's not something that I would want to do with either design under stress, though.
I have seen a couple of shooters trying to thumb-cock P229s under IPSC and IDPA match conditions so as to avoid the tough DA first shot. Not pretty or fast.
I do wish Sig-Sauer would make a gun with properly located thumb safety for cocked-and-locked use.
