Good point, Mute.

The tenor of the posts (sans emoticons) seem to be that these folks are actually considering registering their rifles. If this is the case, have you learned nothing? The rifle registration in late-60s New York and the SKS registration in California both led to banning and confiscation. They want you to register your guns so they know where to get them when the muster the votes to ban them.

Do not register them. Keep them, give them to friends in other states, bury them in sealed PVC tubes. But don't fall for this registration scheme.

While you are at it, get more politically active and support a candidate next election. If you can't find someone to support, find people who will support you. Even if you lose, the chance to debate these schmoes in public is worth the price of admission.

DO NOT REGISTER

There are several option available to allow you to refuse to register LEGALLY. Check out guncompliantstocks.com for their solutions to AR's, AK's, FAL's, and several others. The other options are to disassemble your weapons just enough to remove the 'evil' parts from them, ie remove the upper receiver and pistol grip from your AR, and store these parts seperatly.

By registering ANY firearm, you are allowing them to turn your RIGHT into a privilege. A privilege can be granted, or revoked, by the one offering it. If whether or not you can continue to own your firearm depends on whether or not you complete and submit a registration form, it has ceased to be a right, and become a privilege. Article II of the US Constitution guarantees us the RIGHT.
What if, in order to worship in the manner you desire, you were required to register your bible, koran, etc and any other "religious objects", and failure to register would result in the confiscation of the items, and your loss of the ability to worship, as well as criminal charges.
Or, in order to exercise your freedom of speech, you were required to register your voice, computer, pens/pencils/paper/ etc and failure to register them would result in confiscation of those "means of communication" and the forfeiture of you ability to speak, and again, criminal charges.
In this light, it's not hard to see that Registration is unconstitutional, and CANNOT be required in order to exercise a RIGHT.
Do not allow the HCI crowd to turn your Right into a PRIVILEGE. DO NOT REGISTER.

The other consideration is by registering "some" arms you become a blip on their radar screen. They will use the conttact and info to latch onto you and look for other items.

IMO, ignoring all communication from the known enemy is the way to go. Nope, never got any letters. Sorry, wrong phone number. Can't sign for this certified letter, not directed to me.

Registration fees is $20. There (DOJ) supposed to have a web site set up to handle registration. DOJ doesn't even know how to handle this or interpret SB-23.
