Browing Hi-Power .45

The Hi-Power is my all time favorite handgun due to it's pointability, feel, comfort, accuracy and single action design. That being said, I also own Ruger, Beretta, SIG, and Glock. Have sold the only S&W that I owned. :D

I'm not a 1911 nut although I like the gun. Don't own one, yet. I am curious though as to why Browning never went to .45 in the Hi-Power. It is one of the most copied handguns worldwide with lots and lots of foreign military and police using them.

Any opinions as to why Browning never went to the higher caliber? Any real info as to why this never transpired?

I have herad that the Highpower, which was originally chambered for the French 7.65mm cartridge and later for 9mm cannot be adapted to a cartridge larger than .40S&W and that FN decided not to build an enlarged version for the .45ACP cartridge because they thought it would only sell well in North America.
