Best Method to Unload a Cocked and Locked 1911??

I'm in the process of buying a Colt 1911, and I plan on carrying it cocked and locked... What's the best method to unload it? This is my first 1911..

Eject the magazine. Push the thumb safety off. pull the slide back to ejecr the round in the chamber.

Best way to unload it: at the range, one round fired at target at a time!

Seriously though, real simple.

1. Ensure safety is on and 1911 is pointed in a safe direction.
2. Remove magazine.
3. Press safety off.
4. Rack slide, ejecting chambered round.

From the holster:
Remove the magazine and put it some where else
draw the gun to "Ready" position (of course safe direction)
Thumb safety off, rack it until the round in the chamber comes out
Lock the slide and inspect physically and visually no rounds in the chamber
put your gun back in the holster.
