I've heard that Beretta will be releasing an Elite II version of their model 96. Does anyone know what the differences are between the Elite and the Elite II?

The Elite II is the next step forward from the Elite (though the Elite will still be offered). The slide is a stainless steel Brigadier style with the front cocking serrations. The front and backstraps of the grip are machine checkered as opposed to the vertical serrations normal on Berettas. The barrel is a 4.7" stainless with a target crown. The magazine release button is slightly enlarged. Rear sight is a Novak low-mount, front sight is a thin serrated all-black. The gun comes straight from the factory with a 92D-model hammer spring which reduces trigger pull weight and stacking.

This is in the FAQ from Todds' site at http://greent.com/beretta/

He didn't mention it but the Elite II has two tone finish a black satin anodized frame with the mentioned stainless slide.
