Benelli M1 Picatinny rail

I have a pistol grip M1 (no ghost sights, early model i guess). I want to put a little red dot sight on it, but dont want the big wrap around scope mounts most companies sell. I would much prefer just screwing down the Picatinny rail that comes on the M1 Practical model. Is this possible? (just a straight screw down modification?) Also who sells it then, or sells something equivalent. I think its much cleaner to just have the weaver up top.

ANSWER: I just found out Weaver makes a flat base part number '93' that just sticks right on top (recommended by benelli) and im guessing its the same picatinny rail as on the M1 Practical model. It was under $5, and is on the way. If it fits with the rifle mounts ill post here so anyone doing a search will find out what they need.
