Barrel switch on a Savage FCP 308

I plan on changing the barrel on my 308 to a 260Rem. and plan on a Criterion Bull conture which measures 1" at the muzzle. The present barrel measures 0.8" at the muzzle. Will I have to remove material from the barrel chanel on the stock to keep it free floating? If so, how is it best done? This is a fiberglass HS Precision stock.
