Barrel Rifling

How can you tell if the rifling on your barrel is worn? Say the rifling is bad on an older rifle you have, but you don't want to lower the value of the rifle. This is for my pre-64.

Two visible areas: First is at the crown of the muzzle. Dings, or rub from cleaning from the muzzle end of the barrel.

Then, a bit of burn at the very front of the chamber where the rifling begins, the "leade" or throat. For it to have a detrimental effect, I'd expect a slight bit of visible roughness.
