I have a .50 cal sidelock and would like velocity & drop tables out to 200 yards for the following load in a 28" barrel with 1:48 twist. Sadly, I have no chronograph, nor my own computer to load a ballistics program to.

385gr Hornady Great Plains HB HP
90grs Pyrodex RS
CCI Musket Caps

From the Lymans Black Powder Handbook:

50 cal 28" 1-48

They don't have the Hornady but do list Lymans Plains 395gr #508656 Looks similar.

90gr Pyrodex RS mv1362, me1730, p11,300, v@100yds 1100, e@100yds 1130

I'm having to assume quite a bit, but here goes.

Assuming your shooting around 1400 fps at the muzzle, and zeroed in at 100 yards, with 772 lbs at 100 yards, you will be 26.7" low at 200 yards and be at 624lbs, and 90.6 " low at 300 yards.

Most guys with this bullet will hold their hunting yardage down to 100 yards and in, and at that range is a devistating round. But any further than that and it is a real guess what. Hope this helps.:)
