Bad jag?

I bought a .270 Hoppe's jag at Gander for my new 700 SPS and I can't get it to go in the barrel without cutting the patch down to a 3/4" circle!

I just bought Pro-Shot .270 jag and it works fine and LOOKS smaller.

What's with Hoppe's? Can't they read a mike or rather can't the Chinese who are probably making these read a mike?

(Yes, I've got a bore throat protector sleeve, know to clean from chamber to muzzle, etc etc). I've been cleaning guns for 50 years.

Did you use hoppe's patches? Their patches are generally thinner than pro-shot patches. Just something I noticed the other day.

I don't know what patches I've got. I've never had this happen before.

Instead of buying their patches I'll just throw away their jag.

I had the same problem, but with a .30 cal. I ended up using a .270 to clean .30.
