ATF regulation

I was reading about firearm regulations & whatnot on the ATF's web portal last night and I got really confused. (as usual)

It stated that we should filed a form with them if our firearm were stolen and then notify the local LE agencies. Do we really have to file with the ATF if someone stole my gun(s)? I thought all you need to do is make a report with the local LE officials.

What's your take on this?

If you have an FFL you must report thefts to the ATF. If not, then it isn't required.

Only if you are a FFL (federally licensed) or possess NFA weapons.

What if I have a C+R FFL and a non-C+R is stolen?
Probably not a bad idea to file anyways.
