At what distance is the iron sights on a savage mkII set?

At what distance is the iron sights on a savage mkII set?

Just unboxed it and am going to the range but wanna know before I start shooting.

Nothing in the manual about it either, don't want to crank it either how do I adjust it?

not getting it to group, I get a string of bulletholes, up and down about 20 cm long and about 5 cm to the right of bullseye, this gotta be me not the rifle? i am unsure about irons at this point

I shot at 80 meters, with a rest, 40 standing and it was similar

so now I gotta adjust the front sight right left?

I don't get a natural cheeck connect, I have to squirm to adjust so the front and notch aligns well, any ideas?

Most sights, especialy on cheap rifles, are not set at all at the factory, you will sight the rifle and adjust the sights to meet your shooting style. You typically set the point of impact by moving the rear sight (drift the sight in the direction you want the point of impact to move).
