Did anyone catch the news conference yesterday when Ashcroft and FBI director Mueller (sp?) came out to ratchet up the pucker factor? Holy mother of pearl, Ashcroft looked like he just came away from a dying child's bedside!! He looked pale and tired, his voice was even more monotone than his usual manner, and he seemed absolutely burdened by his duty. Compare that to Rumsfeld's demeanor at his news briefings, up-tempo, bright, alert. The tinfoil-beret-wearing side of me wonders what knowledge that poor guy is burdened with that causes him to seem so beaten down? I guess I'll go to the range (got to keep this on topic....)
