Seems like a good price...I built my own and it cost me around $800 to get to that level he is at, there...see if you can get him to throw in a rear sight, though...
I agree with Ridge Runner above....
in fact, if I was a little more flushed with cash I would have probably considered buying it this past long weekend... I was near there. With a flat top like that most folks like to install their own optics.... my personal opinion on any tactical rifle is leave the space cadet sights for the play ground and stick with Iron.

btw-irons are slow and there are optics that can take a real beating.
i suppose "space cadet" is another way of saying...works far better.
