ar-15 receivers and type III anodizing....how durable?

OK, I have a new lower that I just got from LMT that has a bit of "flaking" (or scratching) around the foward pin holes. I think the upper that was on it was a little tight (LMT upper) and it was "grinding" offa little finish when put on (or removed).. It just got me wondering about the durability of anodizing (even mil spec type III hardcoat) and how much it should take to ding it up.

Sorry, but I am in an anal retentive mood tonight :)

It depends on how hard you use it. I've seen some old rifles that were dang near silver from being cleaned by privates in Basic.

If you are worried touch it up with some Gunkote or Ceramicoat.
