AR-15 lower question

I'm not familiar with the AR platform at all and have a simple question regarding lower receivers.

With the exception of the bolt release, can fire controls be reversed on any standard lower?

Will the standard bolt release interfere with a left handed upper?

Alright, two questions.

Thanks

Most lowers are pretty standard. The bolt release won't interfer with a left handed upper.

If you're building a left handed lower, besides ambidextrous safety, suggest you look into Norgon left handed magazine release. You can still use the regular release, but with the left handed trigger finger you can drop the magazine.

NO, the safety/selector is left side only and not "reversible". Replacing the standard safety/selector with an ambi type is fairly simple.

Thanks Mobuck,

What I meant to ask was if an ambi or left-handed safety switch could be installed on any standard lower, not if a right-handed one could be turned around. Should have worded the question better.

You'll need to loosen or remove the pistol grip to release tension on the selector detent to do the swap and that's all.
