After a search I couldn't find what I was looking for so here goes. Can anyone give me a detailed description of the differences in the various AR-15/M16 designations?
For example I know that an XM16E1 differs from an M16A1 but I'm not exactly sure how. I also know that among the various designations of the A1-A4 there are subtle cosmetic differences (for example an M16A4 has a removable carry handle) but I couldn't tell you the internal differences.
