Anyone seen a M1a in 300 WSM yet? SSK converts AR-10's already.

Does anyone make or convert M1a to 300 WSM yet? If not is it possible???

Can anyone tell me if the 300 WSM would fit in a M1a?

Physically, as in length? Yeah, it should fit. And for some bucks, I'm sure somebody could make a barrel. I'm unsure about the effect of firing the 300WSM on the bolt/mechanism, though. I think you'd need stronger parts in there. Then there's the same/similar consideration with the receiver and gas operator.

I do not possess the smarts to do anything other than know where some of the problem areas would be.

Anybody else?

I've lost the link, but I've seen a webpage for an outfit that builds Garands in .338 WinMag. That is a longer round than the .308, but I found it interesting.
