Depending on the distributors your local dealer uses, they may be able to get you one.
I know my distributors carry STI guns.

Keep in mind, right now as crazy as everything is it's kind hard to get a lot of things.

+1 for Dawson and Brazos. I've purchased STIs from both and was very pleased. They both really know STI guns and were easy to work with. In the current environment they are also probably your best bet for finding what you want as they carry a larger inventory than almost anyone else. My local range owner is a big STI fan and usually has a good selection, but he's almost cleaned out.

Last time I dealt with them STI was selling direct to dealers. If you have someone you like locally, they should be able to get it for you.

What I really want is a single stack 9mm 1911 with a rail, seems really only STI makes some, as well as Wilson Combat and the like.

I do want a GOOD gun, but I don't have the money laying around at the moment to spend $4000 on Wilson.

The STI Tactical SS 5.0 seems like a nice gun, specially with the full railed dust cover, but they seem almost non existent. I work for a local gun shop but unfortunately we do not deal with STI. I think another local shop in the area does, but thank you for all the replies!

I just wanted to thank everyone from giving me some answers on where to find the STI I wanted.

I asked my local guy who is a friend of mine, he called STI and they informed him it would be a very long wait.

However KyJim is the WINNER! Shooters Connection had in stock the exact hard to find model I was looking for... and I just placed my order.

I ordered the STI 5.0 Tactical SS (Single Stack) in 9mm. Will post pics when it arrives.

Yes I know a 1911 in 9mm is blasphemous.. but I just couldn't help myself. I will be replacing the grips with some VZ thin grips and bushings, and most likely swapping out the trigger for an STI short trigger.

To keep things fair for my local shop since he was willing to custom order one for me but I am rather impatient.. I told him to order me 6 Wilson Combat ETM 10round mags for it, and also will be having him switch the front sight probably to a fiber optic.

Shooters connection is a good place to deal with. I ordered one of my STI guns from them. Very easy to deal with

Glad I could help. Shooter's Connection is local to me (15 miles away). They don't have a store front for public display but they were great when I went there to pick up my STI, a 9mm. The 9mm 1911s are a lot of fun to shoot.

I bought the Spartan (five inch). I have some upper end 1911s and the Spartan hangs with them, accuracy wise. Finish is "Spartan" so to speak, but for a little over $600 I'm not quibbling.

I considered the Spartan.. then the Lawman in 9mm.. but I wanted to get a really nice one since I plan on using this as my main range gun, so it will see a lot of rounds so I decided I wasn't going to skimp, and I always wanted a full railed TRP operator so the Tactical caught my eye.

Should be here tomorrow or Weds, I can't wait.
