I currently use 41.0 gr of W760 (max load!!) powder under a 55 gr Hornady SP. Shoots about 3/4" at 100 yds.

In the past, I used IMR3031, IMR4320, H380. I use W760 because it gives me the velocity I want with pretty good accuracy. IMR powders gave better acuracy but are a pain to load with.

I'm loading the Nosler 35gr BT using Win748. Chronied at 4400 fps and it's quite a ways from max load. Around 1/2 moa accuracy. Dead woodchucks at 330+ yards, lasered.

This load is ULTRA flat shooting. Zero range is right around 330 yards sighted 1 1/2 high at 175.

For some reason, you won't find any load data for this bullet in 22-250. That's why I love QuickLoad.

Warning!: The Following Data is Not Published in Any Manual of Which I am Aware. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Neither the writer, The Firing Line, nor the staff of TFL assume any liability for any damage or injury resulting from use of this information.

OAL 2.350

Barrel Length 24.1 inches

Starting Load 37.8gr, 4056 fps
Max Load 42.0gr, 4520fps

I use the 55 gr. V-Max with 34.5 grs. IMR4064 with Rem 9-1/2 primers.
Havent chronographed them, but three shots into 1/4" and fourth and fifth shots usually in at 1/2" or less aint bad at 100 yds. :)

My current concoction is Norma brass, CCI LR primer, 39.7gr IMR4007SSC, under a 53gr Sierra HP flat base matchking. 3800fps and the results on groundhogs are just as horrific as the 50gr VMAX's I was using. The best part is they are cheaper and more accurate. The only downside is they don't like to be pushed to 4000fps. They will regularly fly apart at speeds above 3900fps.

I run 55 gr v-max's with varget. I have also had great luck with the 36 gr. barnes varmint grenades and Sierra hpbt's in most weights. TAC powder also seems to print pretty good groups out of my A-Bolt.
Good luck

Your 62 and 69 gr. bullets may give you fits if you barrel twist is not appropriate.

My Tikka really likes 39g of H414 behind a 50g V-Max. I get one jagged hole about the size of a 9mm brass head at 100 yds. It has a 1 in 14 twist and does not like anything heavier.

My Remington 700VLS liked 55gr sierra in both the hollow point and blitzking models. pushed by 39 gr of H380. Oh, and Winchester primers. The Matchkings were just a tad more accurate but I like with the blitzkings do to groundhogs.

Bruce Hodgdon developed a powder specifically for the 22/250 and 55 gr. bullet. It was called H380 because 38 gr. was the amount he used. At some point he reduced it to 37 gr.

This is a ball powder easy to load, since it meters well. I've found the data in the Speer Manual to be consistent with my own chronographed velocities. I settled on about 39 gr. for a velocity of about 3500 to 3550 fps with Nos. BT.-I believe max load was about 41gr.

The Speer #12 shows 38gr. as starting load, and 42 max, compressed charge.

Other manuals differ greatly on the amount of powder and the stuff can vary in burning rate by 10% or so. The Nosler manual (an older one) listed 35.5 gr. as max, which is less than starting load in the Speer produced .223 velocities in my M700, 24".

This is an excellent powder for hunting. If I was going to work up an accuracy load, the old IMR 4064 is excellent. Today, there are even more good powders to choose from.
