We all need reminding (from http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1139260/posts)

Edit to add: Feel free to add yours

"If the personal freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution inhibit the government's ability to govern the people, we should look to limit those guarantees."
-- President Bill Clinton, August 12, 1993

"And so a lot of people say there's too much personal freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it."
-- Bill Clinton on MTV's "Enough is Enough", 4/19/1994

"We must be able to arrest people before they commit crimes. By registering guns and knowing who has them we can do that. If they have guns they are pretty likely to commit a crime."
-- Vermont State Senator Mary Ann Carlson

"I am one who believes that as a first step, the United States should move expeditiously to disarm the civilian population, other than police and security officers, of all handguns, pistols, and revolvers...No one should have the right to anonymous ownership or use of a gun."
-- Professor Dean Morris, Director of Law Enforcement Assistance Administration, stated to the U.S. Congress

"We're bending the law as far as we can to ban an entirely new class of guns."
-- Rahm Emmanuel, senior advisor to Bill Clinton

Rahm Emmanuel, now where have I heard that name before...

"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate of the United States for an outright ban, picking up every one of them. "Mr. and Mrs. America, turn 'em all in," I would have done it. I could not do that. The votes weren't here."
-- U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein (D/CA) speaking of her authorship of the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban on "60 Minutes" 2/5/95

Does that scare anyone now?

"We must get rid of all the guns."
-- Sarah Brady speaking on behalf of HCI with Sheriff Jay Printz & others on "The Phil Donahue Show" September 1994

Our main agenda is to have ALL guns banned. We must use whatever means possible. It doesn't matter if you have to distort facts or even lie. Our task of creating a socialist America can only succeed when those who would resist us have been totally disarmed."
-- HCI President Sarah Brady to Senator Howard Metzenbaum, The National Educator, January 1994, p.3

"I don't care about crime, I just want to get the guns."
-- Senator Howard Metzenbaum, 1994

"We're going to hammer guns on the anvil of relentless legislative strategy! We're going to beat guns into submission!"
-- U.S. Representative Charles Schumer (D/NY) on NBC 12/8/93

A cosponsor on Lautenbergs "loophole" bill he wants to propose

"Waiting periods are only a step. Registration is only a step. The prohibition of private firearms is the goal."
-- U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno, December 1993

Her Jr at that time was Eric Holder, currently AG

That's a good reminder. There are wanna-be tyrants out there. Stay vigilant and keep on your legislators. They are ignorant and you must educate them.

You may have me there.

But truthfully I only responded to the post because I felt sorry that no one else had and I couldn't think of any thing else to write.

But Good Post. It reminds us all of what we are up against.

How will guns be taken exactly? If several laws are passed, at some point, short of all 250+ million of our guns being turned in, the police will have to come confiscate them. How many policemen are there? Are there going to be millions of new policemen hired? How many homeowners own many guns and supplies that could cause a real dilemma if NO is said and meant.

The lawmakers can talk and work all they want, but they won't have the backbone to knock on my door. If they send the police, they better send quite a few of them. They can't all be everywhere at the same time. Plus, how many law enforcement people are going to be reluctant to "turn" on their fellow americans? I just don't see it.

A true hero, surely.

I've been around TFL a while, you're assuming my self-esteem on the forum hinges on the amount of replies/looks my threads get. Why don't you get acquainted with the forum first before you begin assuming you know about the members here.

Welcome to the forum new guy.

Just an online search. Yesterday after getting the info on the Nordyke v. King case and Lautenberg's proposed bill on gun shows, I wanted to look back and see the trail left by gun control advocates. Posted it as a reminder that even though 15 years have passed, these same folks are still around fighting their same fight, the only difference is their title/job description.

If you want your topic answered, start your own thread.

Back OT-

A law banning the sale of assault weapons has expired, which means it's now legal to buy Uzis and AK 47s. The NRA said that now its owners can protect their families from up to 200 burglars at once.
-- Conan OBrien

I don't believe gun owners have rights.
Sarah Brady

If it was up to me, no one but law enforcement officers would own hand guns..." Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, Federal Gun Legislation Press Conference in Washington, D.C., November 13, 1998.

Here is the one that sticks out the most- some people just either didn't get the Constitution when they studied it as a youngster, or decided immediately they hated it. Too bad they didn't move out right then. The word 'socialist' fits very well with what is going on present day when it comes to their attitude towards the right to own a firearm by law-abiding citizens. No guns = total control = socialism.

Where is Senator McCarthy when you need him :p

"We recoil in horror and search for explanations, but we never face up to the obvious preventive measure: a ban on the handy killing machines that make crimes so easy." Josh Sugarmann, Executive Director of the Violence Policy Center, Seattle and Honolulu shootings more reasons to regulate guns, (1999).

and of course:

"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country." Adolf Hitler

"In reality, the more primitive a people is, the more it resents as an intolerable restraint any limitation of the liberty of the individual." Adolf Hitler

Get on topic. KingEdward, get off my thread.

"We can't be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans."
-- William Jefferson Clinton, USA Today, March 11, 1993.

"I'm convinced that we have to have federal legislation to build on. Our ultimate goal -- total control of handguns in the United States -- is going to take time. My estimate is from seven to ten years. The problem is to slow down the increasing number of handguns sold in this country. The second problem is to get them all registered. And the final problem is to make the possession of all handguns and all handgun ammunition -- except for the military, policemen, licensed security guards, licensed sporting clubs, and licensed gun collectors -- totally illegal."
--- Nelson T. `Pete' Shields, Chairman, HCI

"Banning guns is an idea whose time has come."
--U.S. Sen. Joseph Biden Associated Press 11/18/93

Biden, the V.P. Biden?

"With a 10,000% tax we could tax them out of existence."
--U.S. Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan Washington Post 11/4/93

That is working so well for employment withholdings and income tax

"The American people must be willing to give up a degree of personal privacy in exchange for safety and security."
-- Louis Freeh Director of the FBI, 1993

We are not willing

"Our goal is to not allow anybody to buy a handgun. In the meantime, we think there ought to
be strict licensing and regulation. Ultimately, that may mean it would require court approval to
buy a handgun."
-- Michael K. Beard, President of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence
[Washington Times, 12/6/93, page A1]

"Ban the damn things (guns). Ban them all. You want protection? Get a dog."
-- Molly Ivins, columnist, 7/19/94

Got one, but they don't allow him in buildings either

This is the topic... gun control advocates fighting to ban and take guns.

I'm not trying to upset anyone. I just don't see how it will ever by possible
logistically and with no resistance.

I made the topic, "antigun quotes".

Your pursuit for answers is admirable really. But do it in your own thread, specific to your topic.

Here's my quote,

"The government can have my two registered firearms, I'm keeping the rest."
