Would like some idea of trade in/private sale value.
S&W M640 Centennial .38 stainless steel.
Excellent condition, less than 300 rounds.
Circa 1995 approx, not exactly sure when I purchased it new.

My guess

I would estimate about $450 in a private sale. A dealer won't give that much in a tradein, of course. He would offer about 40% less than that.

If the gun is prelock it will be easier to sell.

It is pre-lock, circa mid '90's.

I would have put the value at 375-400 dollars, but it all depends how much they want it as well. Pogo is right, a dealer would not give you enough to make it worth your while
