another question about laminating a bench top

Now that I have all my materials together, how should I go about laminating 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood for my bench top? Just a bunch of good glue or a combo of glue and screws or what?

I'm ready to put this thing together!!!

Carpenter's glue and 1 1/4" sheet rock screws. Put the screws around the edge every 8 inches and roughly 12 inch centers in the middle. Bomb proof.

One other tip. Start at one side and work your way to the other side, Don't go around the outside first, it will leave a "hollow spot in the middle

I prefer construction adhesive, myself, although Weldbond Carpenter's Glue will also work well.

Screws add a LOT of strength, so I would suggest using them. Just use screws that are slightly shorter than the thickness of the two sheets when you've countersunk them slightly.

I used carpenter's wood glue, plenty of it, and stainless steel screws. No problems after three years of service.

Another suggestion would be to put the screws in from the bottom---no screw heads on top to catch dirt, spilled powder, etc...
