Ammunition question

I'm a filmmaker and I need some general info on brass and slugs.

I need to make some dummy ammo for a film I'm working on and I was wondering where the best place to pick up some cheap brass and slugs. (important word - CHEAP). I'm going to go to my shooting range and see what I can scrounge but I'll still need the lead.

I was also wondering if anyone knew where I could get .22 slugs. One of the pistols I'm using is a .22lr. I'm going to save the brass from my .22lr but again I'll still need the slugs.

If .22lr slugs are impossible to find, what bullet would substitute? They'll be no powder in the case so I could use a longer slug...but it's for a pistol so it can't protrude further than a normal .22lr load.

Any insight would be a BIG help.

For the .22, pull the bullet from a live round (you can probably wiggle it out with your fingers) and dump the powder. Fire the primer in the empty case in your .22.

Epoxy the bullet back in the case.
