AK47 rear sight options

New AK owner here.

I really love this platform - its reliable and really fun to shoot. Does anyone know of a peep sight that is mountable on the receiver cover? Kind of like a Galil type rear sight?

I think this would increase the sight radius. If there was one with an HK type rear sight that would be ideal.

Thanks for your help.

And if not - does the rear peep sight that replaces the standard rear sight - is that useful at all?

I put one on my Romy. It looks kinda odd/funny on the gun (cause it sticks up I guess) but works fine. I like it.

The way that flimsy reciver cover tends to shift around id be a little hesitant to throw a sight on it and expect any kind of accuracy. I would go with the ones provided in the links above. That way the sight will be secured in the original sight location.

There is no doubt that the sights are one of the big weaknesses of the AK platform

But I am skeptical that a peep site will ever be faster than open sites

More accurate...sure
