Ya gotta admire a piece of equipment that works in every conceiveable extreme of climate in the hands of an illiterate who never ate anything but beets and thinks a flush toilet is a high-tech device to wash potatoes. I have some rifles I really love, and it would annoy me a lot if my commercial M98 with the 3-9X scope fell over in the dirt. If the M-N fell over in the dirt, how could you tell? Was the longest serving military rifle the M91 M-N, or the SMLE?
Considering the "Noisy Magnet" is still being used by forces on both sides in Afghanistan as well as Pakistan, I'd say that one. They're in Iraq, too. An M-91/30 with a scope is still as good a sniper rifle now as it was then, and just as deadly.
