I'm new to the forum, so accept my apologies if this is old news.
Prior to an upcoming hunting trip to Alaska, I checked on American Airlines' baggage charges. Turns out checked baggage is limited to 62" (l+w+h). If not, there's a flat charge of $150.00. That means any standard hardshell case for a scoped rifle will cost you $300.00 round trip. Y'all might want to consider this before you purchase your tickets.
