All,

I was bored yesterday and started daydreaming about years past. I got to thinking about getting in to shooting when I was very young with my grandfather in St Paul, Arkansas back in the '60s. I learned on a number of guns, but mostly .22s. I'm trying to identify a rifle that I used then but all I can remember is that the rifle was in .22, bolt action, had a stock where you put the bullets in the side port, and had almost a Manlicher type fore-end. This gun seemed huge and heavy( I was 8), but for some reason I loved it. Cannot find anything like it. Anybody have any leads? TIA.

Best guess (and that is all that it is) would be some sort of Mossberg, possibly this one, the 151M:

Sounds like maybe a Mossberg 152 . Shorter stock , no band , of course the scope is an accessory added to any gun .
