9mm Nato in a Walther P1?

I've heard people say to only shoot light 115gr bullets in this pistol and then I've heard people say the Nazis used to load them hot.

Anyway, I've got 4 boxes of 9mm Nato that a friend gave to me and I'd like to know if it's safe to shoot out of the only 9mm I own wich is a post war P1 (no hex nut).

Any ideas?

All the Nazi P-38's had steel frames.

Most post-war P-38s and P-1s have aluminum frames. The hex bolt (not nut) is a reinforcement to keep steel from wearing out aluminum.

So if you have a P-1 without that hex bolt, that was a good question to ask.

The P-38/P1 was designed to shoot 124 grain standard ammo, not 115 grain.
It'll shoot both well.

As far as I know, the NATO standard 9mm is perfectly good for the P1, since that was what the Germans used in it.
